Which of the three factory configurations do you like best and why?

I like the 24 or 26 tappered with a scope. I had a 28 pro hunter fluted but found it much too heavy for my type of hunting.

I have ordered a 7-08 barrel and it should be in any day now.  The barrel is blue fluted 28 inch.  The barrel will be mounted to Pro Hunter.  I hunt from a shooting house and this will work great for me.  The barrel will be replacing a 270, 24 inch.  Will be using an Redfield 3x9 scope. ;D

I like a 24'' tapered for most of my hunting. With a scope but iron sights are always an option.

You didn't list this length, but my favorite factory barrel is a 20" .45-70 Katahdin barrel. Its compact, accurate and can be loaded light or heavy enough to handle anything I'll ever hunt.

26" Heavy with scope. 28" is just too long.

Depends on what your hunting.

Prairie dogs or walking in the woods stalk hunting.

If I don't have to carry it I want the longest sight radius I can ge

If I am going to have to pack it in the woods I want a little shorter lighter barrel.

That is what is nice with the T/C you can have both.

I like the 24 inch tapered, the 26 inch heavy and the 28 inch Pro Hunter Barrels.  Oh, and I also like the 12, 13, 14 and 15 inch ones.  Isn't that helpful?

Seriously, judging from the numbers of Pro Hunter barrels coming on the market at very good prices, I believe a lot of people don't like the 28 inch length once they've tried it but I do.

When I bought my first Encore it was a pro hunter heavy 28 inch fluted 243 cal, first mistake was buying the pro hunter after shooting it a few times did not like the swing hammer moved it around to the inline position, second mistake was the 28 inch heavy fluted barrel and so put the barrel up for sale and took a beating on it with only about 10 rounds shot, others may like all those features but all my other Encores are all 24 and 26 tapered barrels, the one pro to all this is that If I ever did choose to sell it that would be a plus. I would suggest that you go to a encore dealer and get the feel of the different ones before laying you money down. All of us are different and our likes are different as you can see by the posts :) :)

I have a stainless prohunter with the fluted heavy 28'' bar. 30/06. and i have a older encore with a 26'' heavy straight bull bar in 25/06 and i can tell you the pro hunter is little bit lighter but the 26'' encore balance is alot better to me.Good luck.
