REPAIR OF FINISH FOR A TAURUS ULTRALITE TITANIMUM .38 SPECIAL
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:54:31 AM »
I carried this revolver as my carry weapon for 5 years. I moved my business last July across town. I carried it during the move and managed to damage the finish as me and my employees sweated our behinds off. I need to polish or recondition the finish but don't know what product to use to accomplish this. The gun still works fine but I sold it today and need to doll it up a little. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I don't believe there is a product intended to repair the finish on a Ti gun and having the factory finish gone from what I've read is a really bad thing. I believe whatever you do is only gonna make it worse or look worse. I assume the guy saw it before buying if so he understands the condition. If not then if you are honest you'll tell him the condition and let him do what he wants with it once it's his.

where is the finish worn?  like aluminum after the anodizing wears off, the metal just doesn't handle any wear or tear.  if it's the cylinder face then that gun is gonna deteriorate fast (the cylinder gap will grow).

I may have made it sound worse than it actually is. There is a small area about 3/16" wide by 3/4" long blemish on the left side of the frame just above the trigger. The cylinder and the rest of the gun is fine. Yes he seen the gun and is happy with what he's getting. I'm just one of those guys that wants to hand over the merchandise in tip top shape. Thanks for the input.

Then just wipe it down and do the normal cleaning you'd do to it. Make no attempt to further mess with that spot however. You can only make it worse not better.
