« on: February 07, 2010, 04:17:10 AM »
Budsgunshop has 357 Mag H&R's listed on their website.  Blue steel, syn. stock.  I believe the price was $242 with freight.
RIP Tom: Tom Nolan, ( bikerbeans) passed away this afternoon (02-04-2021).

I ordered the "combo", with the 20 gauge rifled barrel, it is sitting at my FFL right now waiting to be picked up.

I have been waiting for the 44 mag/ 12 gauge combo to come in stock. That's the one I really want. I'll pick it up when it comes in stock too.

Beans, I purchased a 357mag from Buds about 2 weeks ago.
I paid 233.81 credit card price. Cash price was $227.
Went to my ffl this past weekend to do the paperwork and it's jail for 10 more days.
The box was opened from me to see her, but I never took black beauty out.
I only discovered after I got home on my paper work that it was an SB2.  :o
Maybe Quick can clear this up ...quick!
I was under the impression that all  357 mags were now SB1's.
The Bud's receipt reads:
Product ID - SS152891
Description - H&R SB2-S35 HandiRifle SYN 357 SB22
It has a funny serial # CAC [/color] plus 6digit's
If it is a true SB2 I'll be a happy camper. -g

I think Bud's paper work is wrong, I don't think they ever made a syn stocked SB2 357mag for one thing, and the SB1-S35 is the correct model number, the 2 after SB is just wrong, I think the original SB2 version model number was SB2-357.

Maybe they had some old cardboard boxes they still trying to get rid of?
I'm guessing that she just got the model# off of the box and not off of the Handi, as it was never taken out of the box. I better check it before I walk out with it. Maybe one of the 35 Whelen's snuck out to me.  ::) -g

Don't be surprised if the barrel is marked SB2, that's par for the course on SB1 357mags.

Anyway, Congrats on the new rifle, Gary!!  ;)

Yes!!  ;)

*Note: The frame of the 44 Mag. (SB1-S44) and the 357 Mag. (SB1-S35) cannot be fit with any other centerfire rifle barrel. They are capable of being fit with accessory shotgun barrels, but their rifle capability is limited to the specific 44 or 357 Mag. barrel that it is shipped on the gun.

I think Bud's paper work is wrong, I don't think they ever made a syn stocked 357mag for one thing
Thought the SB1s came with new style syn stocks.

I picked up my 357 combo from my FFL yesterday. The barrel is marked SB2, like Tim said.

This was the first "brand new" Handi that I have ever bought. Wow, was that thing dirty!

I got it all cleaned up and made sure both barrels fit. I'm a happy camper.  :D

I meant a syn stocked SB2 357mag, I corrected my statement.  ;)

In 2007 I bought an SB 2 framed 44 Mag with synthetic stocks. I think it was a special run for Gander Mountain. All other 44 Mags came with the wood stocks that year. When you get the 357 home check the frame construction and compare it to the pictures and descriptions in the FAQ. Then you will know for sure if it is an SB 1 or SB 2 frame.

SB1 357 and 44mag rifles and combo frames are real easy to identify, they're the only H&R frames with the marking on the right side stating only the rifle barrel that came on the the frame can be used on it or something to that similar to the statement on their website.  The only other markings that have ever been on the right side of their frames has been commemorative or special edition markings.

It looks like both Bud's and Davidson's are sold out of the .357s now.

I think Bud's still has the 357 Handi as a combo with a 20ga barrel.
