I too shoot a glock 23 and recently sold my Colt Gold Cup (OMG I do regret that). Since I am w/o a 45 I devoted more time to my Glock and started doing a few modifications.
I installed 1 3.5 lb connector which was an improvement but not great. (Don't worry everyone this is not a carry piece)..... then I ordered a few more items for the Glock.
Extended slide release
Extended Mag release
Grip plug
Since I had the Glock "detailed" stripped I went to work. I have been doing trigger jobs for about 30+ years. I read all the propaganda on the internet about the .25 cent trigger job and decided to give it a whirl.
Armed with a dremal, a polishing wheel and years of shooting I went to work.
My results are WOW! I have a beautiful smooth trigger that I am proud of. I spoke with a few trained Glock gunsmiths and even a former Team Glock shooter who told me that if I want an even lighter trigger install a 4 lb striker spring. I doubt I will go that far.
So, my results..... The extended slide release is absolutely worth it just for the comfort. The extended magazine release sticks out far and is also a pleasure to use (but it could interfere with concealed carry) and the 3.5 lb connector works great.
This work/modification will become "standard" on all my future glocks.
Yeah...... I am on the hunt for another 1911 45 acp to build
