How did this happen?
« on: January 29, 2010, 02:09:19 AM »
I used the last of a can of mackrel for my last bucket set for otter. This morn. the can was on the outside and trap was fine.Mink? Anyway I turned the trigger on the bottom andd rebaited. Any ideas? Oh  , and I didn't catch anything again. I'm not a noob, but starting to feel like it.

Coon? Some have an awful long reach.
Have you taken otter in bucket sets? I have never taken an otter in one of my baited mink or coon sets.
They have come from my castor mound sets, dam crossovers and pinch points.

No, I haven't taken any otter in buckets. A fella trapper on Trapperman said he had taken several. Weather in going bad here, don't know if critters will move tonight or not.

Checked today and empty but still had the bait. Bobcat went right by and never broke stride(snowed 7" last night) tracks were easy to see. So I put out 4 snares today for him.

Cats are finicky, sometimes will set in front of your set and eye it up and then go on.... and next time they come back they dive right in.
