Hello, Has anyone here tried the Hornady 120GR HP in a 25.06 on Whitetail Deer. If so how did they work and what was your best load. I will be using them in a Thompson Encore with a 26 inch heavy barrel.
Thanks

I don't use them but i know a couple of guys who do and claim they do a good job on deer sized game and are very accurate. I know that Joyce Hornady took a cow elk with that bullet when it was being tested so it must be pretty tough. I'm not much on hollow points or the plastic tipped explosive type bullets myself and although i've toyed with the ideal of trying them i've just never been able to talk myself into it. I've always been a big fan of soft points and have had great luck with them so i've never seen any reason to change. I like Hornady bullets along with Speer and i'm currently using Speer 120 Spitzers in my 25.06 with excellent results with both accuracy and it's performance on deer. I've had equal results with the Hornady 117grn BTSP.
