I would like to start a post here about the things you remember from your past, good times and old friends, people long gone or moved away. I have lost a lot of people during my life that i dearly miss, and i hope to one day see again. My our Father bring us back together one day so we can do it all again.
THINGS I REMEMBER
Gun oil and leather, cold steel and wood. Trees and leaves and fluttery things. Crisp clean air, dew drops, the breath of a deer. Squirrells , rabbits and doves. a faithful old hunting dog, to old to run, eager to go. The look of betrayal on his face as you drive away. Early breakfast of backstrap bisquits and gravy. A 4-wheel drive, horses and hogs. An alarm clock, a groan. A wife who thinks she lives alone. Clouds and sky, wind and rain. Things i would not give up for anything. A grandpa who is proud, yarning about the deer he shot in '63. Sitting on the ground, leaning against a tree, watching the world pass me by. Stories of good dogs, bad winters and big deer. Hunters getting lost and then found. Practical jokes, a corncob pipe and smoke. An uncle, my friend, who is gone now but i hope to see again. Memories in my mind from another place and time. The cheerful glow from the windows of my house, as i watch my children and wife through them. A smile and a tear. The warmth from the fireplace to warm my bones. Taking my son on his first hunt.........Can it get any better? ...............I think not. Thank you GOD for these things in my life.
