After a couple of years of no luck, I nailed a spike on Wednesday morning.
The rifle was an all original P-14 and my new Mk 9 200 gr. .313 dia. RN prototype. I haven't chronoed the load yet. I'll be working up about 10 other powders The load was 46.5 gr. of IMR4350 - OAL 3.000 inches.
They chambered with no problems in the P-14 because of the nose design. There's a little less exposed lead to hang up on the feed ramp. The result - one spike buck. The bullet wasn't recovered but it left an exit wound slightly larger than a golf ball. It was a heart/lung shot at approx. 75-80 yds.
It's nice when a plan comes together! :-D
