How should I carry bulk water in my MOLLE ii sack..
« on: May 06, 2010, 08:20:46 PM »
I just got my US Issue Molle II frame pack ( large ruck and sleep system ). Im curious, how do you guys carry enough water with these for a few days? EXCLUDING hydration bladders.. I just dont like them! Im talking bulk water here, I know I could get 4 canteens or so..but finding a way of holding 2 regular 1 gallon milk jugs would be sweet! And yes, I am aware of how much water weighs :-)

Why not use some type of water filtration system?  Robert

Here in Eastern montana, water can be scarce. Its a semi-arid climate and much of the water I would stumble across would be cattle water ponds..which even with a filter I wouldnt really want to drink from

Might look at Platypus water "bottles". They are soft like the hydration bladders but much cheaper and designed to stand up like a 2litre bottle and come in many sizes. They are a lot tougher than they appear. Nalgene bottles come in a bunch of sizes you rarely see at camping stores.

OH! I should rephrase my question. I should have said Im wondering how you attach bulk water containers to molle packs? Strap them tightly down? Let them dangle off the side from caribiners? Pack them high or low?

Thanks for the suggestions thus far
