coyotes near lake Tohoe

does any one know if there's an area within 100 mi. of lake Tahoe that i could hunt coyote.going there with fam. thought i would take a gun. thanks Bill

Never hunted near Tahoe, but I think that in Nevada you do not need any lisense to hunt them.  I would look east some, most of the area close to the lake is populated or forested, and now there is lots of snow.  Good luck.  Larry

Yeppers, no license required, no bag or possession limits for non residents to hunt coyote, skunk and weasel in Nevada (but leave all the other fur bearers alone, they all have trapping/hunting seasons and license/tag requirements).    As Larry suggested, go east from Tahoe.   But I'll add "almost anywhere... east along Highway 50; north of Interstate 80; or south of I-80 along Highway 95 or Highway 95 Alternate".   The area around Fallon gets hit pretty hard between the Navy base (Top Gun) and calling contests, so further away from rather than closer to it are best.     

You also need to pay attention to what county you are in as each has its own regs.    Mostly you'd be in:

Churchill - wide open, including legal to spotlight at night.

Lander - No shooting 1 hour after dusk to 1 hour before dawn.

Nye - Same as Churchill except no shooting within 3 miles of the County Courthouse in Tonopah (LOL).

Mineral - same as Churchill

Its a good year for coyotes here. I live on Hwy 50 east of Carson City and have had a coyote in my back yard three times this winter. Not for long. ;) Years past they wouldn't come in this close. I don't know if that means there are more of them, or if they are hungrier for some reason. Just come down Hwy 50 anywhere between Dayton and Fallon. Good Luck
