10 years ago the deals were hard to miss but in the last 3 or 4 years it is getting hard to find one , the sellers seem to want new or higher prices for most of the guns sold there .

I may even skip this year all together and save my $$s for a trip to the big shop down in Ky. Wish I could remember their name .  ???

Stimpy,

You talking about Court days in Mt.Sterling? That is a real big one back home. I remember going to it as a kid, mules, horses and dogs were over near the train tracks with the other livestock being sold, everything else under the sun sold everywhere else. I still remember buying a pistol off a table when I was about 15 or so, no one cared back then, I had my own money I had worked for and we didn't have the problems we do today. Sorry I will put up the soap box.

Na , the coon dog trials up here in Kenton , about an hour east of Lima , aside from running the dogs its a major flea market type deal , to do it justace you need to spend about 2 days looking things over .

And......  For you guys that like bluegrass music, I saw on a billboard yesterday that Ralph Stanley is going to perform at the coon dog trials this year.

Got a story about the coon dog trials. Couple weeks ago, at the IHMSA Intl's at the Tusco rifle club, was sitting with a gunsmith, local, who was at the trials back in the early to mid '90's. This is his story. Seems there were a couple of ''ladies'' that were performing ''tatto's'' in a school bus they had parked in the field. Seems there were always 5 to 10 men waiting in line outside the bus, for ''tatto's. One customer, a guy in what appeared to be his late '60's, would get out of the bus, and go right back and stand in line. When he was standing in line for what was his 3rd. or 4th. time, the gunsmith got up and walked over to him, and made a comment, you've got pretty good stamina for a guy your age, to be going back for your 3rd. or 4th. ''tatto'' The old guys reply was,''Son, you can't get this back where I come from"  gypsyman

Welcome , you may check the Kenton news paper , they may have some pics on file from past years . Also the group that puts on the trials may have them , have you checked their web site ?

They held it at the Lima fairgrounds this year. I didn't make it over so can't really comment on the festivitys. Bucyrus also tried to pick up some of the slack, didn't go over to well, from what I heard.

I didn't make it out either but from what everyone is saying things went very well , not the Dodge City that Kenton had become . The guys at the Fair Grounds did a fine job of keeping things in check and it may have found a new home , atleast for another year .

I didn`t know that someone was tring to keep Kenton alive. If they have it again this year at the Lima fairgrounds I`ll try to make it. They never get it to what it was at Kenton there as the fairgrounds are to small.
