new 17 HMR sportster w range report
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:49:53 PM »
Got my new HMR Saturday. Put a new scope on it and started shooting. Dialed in with federal v max's at 25 yards. Took 3 shots to get it close enough to shoot the 100 yard target.5 more to get it to zero and I am impressed!!!! I am shooting just outside of an inch group. Measure it center to center and it is an inch group. This is with no trigger work and me not shooting for a bit. I know this thing is gonna be as good as my Mach 2 which is a tack driver for sure. The gun came from the ilion plant and I must say the trigger is better than I have had in any new gun. ( no guage to  use)  but noticeably better.
I am gonna nail some crows now!

Sweet! You are going to like that Sportster. Try some Hornady V-Max 17gr ammo.
They shoot the best in mine.

I have some of the hornady stuff and they shoot good too but 1 1/2" higher! I have a savage 93 that does not want to shoot at all and it really hated the hornady stuff. I have the cci TNT hollow points, hornady v-max and the federal v-shock. I will probably have more hornady as it is easier to g et and on sale more.

Those federal v-shoks shoot real well in mine , come to think of it just about every type of ammo .17 & .20 grain shoot well from mine. Minute of crow to 100 yards + forsure
