Got my 1st hog!!!
« on: March 27, 2010, 04:17:11 AM »
I got my first hog last weekend up in Fentress Co. I had been up last year as a guest of Old English but didn't see anything. I joined the lease for the remainder of this year and went up with Old Yard Dog and I had 3 hogs come out on me on Sat. afternoon about 5 p.m. They were all the same size and I took the second one which gave me a nice standing shot. It was a young gilt about 100 lbs. It looks dirty because I drug it back up the mountain with the 4 wheeler. It was a good time overall and it looks like I'll have to go again, Lonnie.

Good deal.  I had to drive to Texas to get my first hog.

Well done Lonnie, I got one last week also, about 100 yards from where you got that one. After 2 shots with my 308, there was not a lot of eating left. The surprising thing to me was that it had 8 piglets, which were extremely cute!!! I guess that I made them orphans, which didn't really please me. The real surprise was how small and young the mother was, she couldn't have weighed more than 70 pounds.
