From what I read, one out of 22 or 32 kids parents had a problem with it, the others told them to take them because they would be better off in America.

Anyways, we have enough natural gas to convert most of the fleet vehicles (utility trucks, state and federal vehicles, UPS delivery and mail carrier trucks) to compressed natural gas and stop 40% of the imported oil. This can be done by attritian in 5 years or less, whenever their vehicles come due for replacements. They just have to put in a $40,000 compressor station that can fuel about 25 vehicles daily. It compresses street natural gas to about 2,000 psi into the cylinder fuel tanks installed on the vehicles or trucks. These tanks are the same ones used to compress acetylene-oxygen tanks for welding, and oxygen tanks currently used for people needing oxygen and used in hospitals. They will just contain the natural gas instead. Once this is done, we can require a change to diesel cars and trucks like Germany. 27 gallons of diesel can be made from a 55 gallon barrel of crude oil verses 20 gallons of gasoline. Now, that will cut about another 30% off imported oil. This too can be done over a the same 5 year period thus cutting 70% of imported oil. We can cut most of the remainder with hybrids. It doesn't take rocket science to do this. While we are doing this we can build coal gasification plants or algae production plants to make synthetic crude to produce gasoline and diesel. Too many people on both sides keep it from happening. Environmentalist, liberals, ect., want us to use electric cars. Oil companies don't want us to use natural gas. 98% of natural gas American produced with 2% coming from Canada.

Nuclear will take 20-30 years to get on line if you started today. 25% of the power is already nuclear, 20% is natural gas, 40-45% is coal, about 10% is hydro, the rest is wind or solar. All of this power is produced here. What I listed above was to cut imports to help balance our trade deficit and keep money here at home to stimulate our economy. Nuclear is fine if you want to replace coal and natural gas in the long run. Electric cars are not yet efficient enough for long range travel and quick recharge. Cars can now travel 300-500 miles on a tank of gas and fill up in 15 minutes. IF you can make an electric car do the same it would have already been done. A company in California has, BUT the lithium batteries make the car cost about $90,000 and it still takes 3 hours to recharge on 440 volts. Infrastructure is not in place to do this and price of vehicle is prohibitive. The natural gas system is already in place except for some sparcely populated western and mountain states. All you need is an 8' x 40' compressor station and you are in business. The fleets like utilities and such can install these at their property where they park their vehicles at night, and fill them and go. Diesel is the other short term quick answer to help cut imports. In order to replace coal, we need 100 new nuclear power plants. This just ain't gona happen overnight. What about the coal industry, they still need their jobs in mining and railroads need to haul it. Replace the coal power plants with synthetic gasoline plants making it out of coal. We have an 850 year supply of coal. Electric cars will come in time. How long will the electric car's batteries hold out? How much will it cost to replace them. How are they going to dispose of them. A gasoline or diesel vehicle when it gets old, can be salvaged for parts, then melted down and recycled.

Prius batteries last longer than most cars do and you can get an "as new" battery for $1000.00 to $1500.00.

We were thinking about buying a Ford Escape. The gasoline version was about $20,000. The Hybrid version was about $27,000. No way. Even driving 20,000 miles a year, for the life of the vehicle, you still wouldn't buy $7,000 worth of gas. I don't want a little Pruis. I want a bigger vehicle. We got a fully loaded Expedition for about the same as the Ford Escape. Now we can travel around the country in comfort and take all our camping gear with us. It is hardly used during the week. My wife doesn't work outside the home. So I am 2 miles from work and use my Pathfinder every day. I have considered a bike, but half the route is on a 4 lane 45 mph road and everyone does 55 in the mornings and evenings. Hybrids are not worth the cost yet. A diesel would have cost about $24,000, would get better mileage and be cost effective. That is why Germany decided to go diesel and 85% of their vehicles are diesel. More fuel per barrel of oil. Higher mileage with diesel. More cost effective.

Most Hybrid car/truck versions cannot be justified financially. Until this gap gets down to a 1 to 2 year break even, they are never going to achieve the sales level. Of course the cost of gas is the dynamic variable. It goes up to $6.00 a gallon and 7 years just turned into 3 1/2 for the payback.

When the Model T came out, it was probably not worth the multiple of horses that it cost. Ultimately, it reduced pollution on the roads and replaced the horses. Same with hybrids. The over/under is still way out there. Gotta give it a decade or 2.

WOW! TM 142 Million barrels of oil, dang that is a whole 6 or 7 days worth of oil for the US! The US consumes over 20 million barrels of oil a day, I don't think you have solved America or the worlds energy crisis.

There is a 30,000 year supply of natural gas in hydrates in the Bermuda triangle. I repeat, 30,000 years. It is deep and would have to be mined by robots and submarines. Every now and then these hydrates release gas in the water as foaming bubbles. This causes ships to sink or airplanes to explode, thus the fear of going into this triangle. It is between Florida, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. They think there is oil there also. Our benevelant government has made it illegal to drill there though. Same with off the coast of Florida.
