Detector hunting in water for nuggets
« on: February 03, 2010, 08:42:04 PM »
Just a thought, since Kalifornia has banned suction dredging in these Northern Rivers and streams, and since there is known gold there, is there a way to detect in deeper water for nuggets? Just wondering about all those guys who can't suction dredge anymore, but want to get out to the deeper spots where they have been finding gold, and because gold is now so high per ounce, this might be a viable way to continue the hobby. Once I heard about a deep water system, but don't remember the specifics. Any ideas, guys? Thanks, BoomLover

I don't know what he used, but Tom Massey recently used a detector, under water, with ear phones to find nuggets. It was on a Gold Fever Show. He was completely submerged with a wet suit on.
My Bounty Hunter can be used in shallow water only.

All the larger mfg's make an underwater detector.  I have used White's and it works great.  I have never bought one, don't have enough opportunity to use it, but if you've got the place, it might be worth  the investment.
