Blue Dot and 44 mags

I have two load data books (Lee and Lyman)that list Blue Dot in 44 magnun but they list very different velocities for the same powder charge.
Lee says something like 1400 fps and Lyuman says 1100 fps for the same charge in a pistol length barrel. Which is correct? I wish I had a chronograph! TIA

Aliants web site shows top loads of 1475fps so I would say the Lee is probably closer.  KN

It may make a difference on what Lot of powder they used too. I have 2 one pound cans of BD and they are VERY different. One of them is very fast and the other seems normal. In the 357 the faster one reaches max load about 1.5-2 grains sooner.  I started in the middle of the load data and it was already sticking cases in the cyl. Always work up!

For the most part, Lee's data is just a reprint of information from the powder company. I'm not sure where Lyman geets their information, but I've found it to be not very close to actual shooting figures.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.
