Jeans and durability
« on: February 12, 2010, 03:17:03 AM »
I quit wearing blue jeans long ago because they're not as durable and don't stay good looking as long as other kinds of pants, like khakis. Have you found the same to be true?

You obviously worry more about your looks than me. I do still own some jeans and will from time to time wear them but really I wear camo on average around 360 days a year. Rat now I'm sitting here typing this wearing camo sweat pants and a well worn hunter green t-shirt.

Yesterday when we went to town the sweats were changed for camo fatigue pants and a newer less worn hunter green t-shirt with a camo sweatshirt over it. Heck when I go out to work in the yard or gardens in summer I still wear of worn camo fatigue pants mostly.

I can't recall trying to impress anyone with my good looks and natural charm in at least 20 years maybe longer. I follow the wisdom from that old song "garden party".

My occupation was pretty rough on pants and shirts too for that matter. I tried some khakis one time. They didn't last two months so I went back to blue jeans. I spent about 98% of my working life in Levis because they would wear longer than anything else I ever tried. When I retired I switched to Wrangler slims cause they stay up on my skinny butt better and I'm not as rough on pants as I once was.

I pretty much always wear jeans. Wranglers to be precise. Won't wear Levi's (SheGuys) because of thier stance on a couple things near and dear to my heart.

Wranglers here too. They seem to last. Also got some Columbia jeans 8 yrs old, still looking good. But wranglers are my choice, because they fit well and last long. Heehee, camo sweats, when Walmart had a BIG sale on camo sweats I bought tons of them for myself, my son, his girlfriend, my BIL. Nobody appreciated them as much as I did.....oh well. ;D

Wranglers here too when I'm not wearing camo fatigues. Have been eyeing some Carhart carpenter jeans. They look and feel like some heavy duty stuff.

I'm real hard on clothes too.Jeans are all I wear.Levi's wear real well, but cost too much to work in.I wear Rustlers, made by Wrangler, from walmart.About a third of the cost and wear fairly well.I do have a couple of pair of Wranglers for dress. If I can't wear jeans to it i don't go.Don't own a suit and only one pair of Khakis that I wear when I ride with my son on the Sheriffs patrol.Slow

Old ranchers had three set of jeans.
Old for wor,
Next old was for town.
Newest were hard starched and for going to the bank/banking.
Now, I wear mostly heavy outdoors pants, be it jeans of denimim of a different cut.
These i also wear to church--the newest and the others for everyday and golf/shooting.

I wear jeans because women like them.  When they wear out my wife buys me some more.  I open church services in mine and nobody complains.  I do wear dress pants to funerals and some weddings.

Get you some of these they don't wear out so easy.

My brother-in-law loves them.  They are made in the USA.

Was a die hard Wranglers type. Then I started buying Carhartt and Dickies carpenter type. Still wear the Wrangler but not for work,I wear the others now. I'm getting up in age now,and I find I like the bib coveralls the best. This is due to my ever expanding waistline. :D

I love the bibb overalls too but haven't been able to button all the side buttons for years.

My son is a tile setter and wears Carhart canvas jeans because demin blue jeans won't last long enough. Some company makes "firehose jeans" and states "if they tear, a new pair". I have never tried them.

Jeans are durable enough IMHO.  Besides having a bit of wear on them is currently in "style" so unless it bothers you, nobody is gonna think any less of you if they're a bit worn around the edges.  That said, because of my job I typically wear dress black pants or khaki's on most weekdays, but Friday through the weekends is jeans.

As long as they are clean the wear doesn't bother me.

Been wearing Levis most every day for 30+ years and continue to because I'm used to them.

Thinking of going with something else now though. Ever since they started making them all over the globe, they're not consistant in fit and don't last as long as they used to. I have to try them on every time I buy them. Before, I could just find my size and be on my way.

On Duluth Trading Co. - A friend at work got one of their Firehose "shirt-jacs." I wasn't impressed with the quality. After a few weeks he noticed that the stitching at the button holes was coming apart, and some of the seams didn't look like they were going to hold up for long.
