First let me say thanks for the Taurus forum. I am a big fan of Taurus revolvers.
Have a .454 in 8 3/8. Looking for a more compact fishing/hiking/berrypicking/prospecting companion here in AK. It will get carried quite a bit. Looking really hard at the stainless .480 with the 5" bbl. Handled one at a gunshop and it felt pretty sweeeet. Also seems like some really good prices available for these online. Has anybody shot one of these? How do you like it? I use 330gr hardcast behind a good dose of H110 in the .454. Not quite max but not far from it. Probably looking at the 400gr in the .480 for penetration. How does recoil in the short .480 compare to the long barreled .454? Any insight is appreciated.
Also any favorite holsters for the 5"?
Any favorite molds for the .480 @ 400gr+/-
Thanks
Eric
