.17 Hornet
« on: February 13, 2010, 05:26:42 PM »
Is there anyone out there reloading for a 17Hornet I have an extra H&R 17Hmr bbl that I want to rechamber to something else and thought I would start with the Hornet and if I wanted to later I could move up to some of the other 17 wildcats. Any thoughts on this? Kurt

Several years ago I bought a Handi barrel in 17 K Hornet. It is a hoot to shoot. Reloading is cost effective once you get past the price of the dies. It is a rechamber of a 17 HMR.
Shoots under an inch @ 100 with the right loads. Fun to shoot squirels with, but head shots only!!

I have a Bullberry barrel in .17 AH. I loves the 19 gr. Calhoon bullets. I push them at 3,600 fps. and it shoots point blank to almost 300 yrds. If you due the job PM me and I`ll give you some data. I will tell you that .1 gr. will make a BIG difference in presure with this small case.
