have both the classic and the 2240.
Look at the Crosman custom shop for some of the barrels
they have several Lothar-Walther barrel options for the 2240.
The .22 caliber strikes with considerably more authority so I would go with it.

I have an old one I got about 30 years ago. Still works good.

I bought a new one for my Son last Christmas. It's pretty good, but every pellet style I've tried hangs up on the hole where the screw secures the breech to the tube. It works okay (but not 100%) if you hold the muzzle up while closing the bolt. I gave my Son lead balls to shoot out of it so it's no problem.

One fix is to melt a black crayon with a lighter, drip it on the screw head and close the bolt while it's still hot. This fills the void where the pellet hangs up.

I used to have the .22 caliber version, accurate gun and I got some house sparrows with it.  Traded it off as the metal seam on the back strap was making my hand sore from the pressure of all that pumping.  Also, the plastic stock (front part) was wearing quite fast where it locks up to the frame, the locking knob.  The grips would wiggle around too, it needed an additional screw to hold them on as the movement from the pumping caused pressure on em'.

If Crosman did some improvement on it I could see getting another one.

Hi steelhead51:

You might look at the yellow forum's (http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/) as you can find a lot of after market parts there the trigger is pretty bad, with these guns, 10 pound plus pull, however with some after market parts, it can bee smooth as silk!  The same parts that fit the 22XX, (the Crosman 22 caliber co2 pellet pistol), will fit your 1377.

Good luck and have fun shooting it.  I had one for years, and years...

If you are careful you can compress the trigger spring all the way down to a hair trigger.I have mine set at about 3.5 pounds.Check both the yellow forum and the crosman forum.
I used a B-square mount for a single six. Milled it down to fit on the 1377 and used the rear sight hole and a hole I drilled and tapped into the steel breech I bought. To make a mount for a red dot sight.
 I also have a 1322 that I have left basically stock,just a little trigger spring compression.This is a first version 1322.

Even better trigger mod is to remove the spring and take it to Ace Hardware.  Find a slightly longer but weaker compression spring to replace the OEM one.  Will have enough extension to make the trigger reset but will reduce the pull considerably.  Cost me about .60cents and about 2 minutes work ( not counting travel time, of course.  Makes a HUGE difference.

YES!  I've been shooting and modifying them for a number of years and have several in .177, .22 & .25 cal, mostly scoped.  Also rifle/carbine versions. Best air pistols for your money anywhere.  Hunting and target... Go here for all you ever wanted to know...

I've got one I converted to 22 and put a folding stock on.  Great backpacking gun.  I like being able to do things like that with airguns because they aren't regulated in the same way as 'real' guns.
