Cool Sporter....That's what I thought. I had a Type 38 6.5 that had been rechambered to 6.5x257 Roberts. I had a beautful Birdseye Maple Manlicher stock and turned bolt. Alas the thing couldn't shoot streight
After $120 for dies, base, rings and cleaning supplies I sent it to my brother who had it rebarreled to 260 Rem. and put the Timney trigger on it. It's his favorite gun. Have fun with your project.
Just a side note PO Ackley, world renound wildcater and gunsmith, tried to blow up actions to find out how strong they were. He blew up Mausers, Enfields, and Springfields. He never could blow up an Arisaka. A word of precaution, do an internet search to find out where and when your action was made. Late in the war Japan was short on guns and good steel to make them. They created Arisakas known as last ditch rifles. They were such junk they didn't put the Emperiors Mum (flower) on them. It would not make a safe sporter if it is a last ditch.
