CZ-82 Unsafe Cocking
« on: January 09, 2010, 04:55:04 AM »
Just received my new (used) CZ-82 from hunters lodge today.  It's nice, a little scratched up but thats okay because i want to refinish it anyway.  The problem I was having was that the S/A trigger trigger pull was very light and vague.  Also it would allow the hammer to follow the slide back forward occasionally.  And it wouldn't cock if held leaning too far to the side or upside down.

It would still work fine (most of the time), but felt a little odd.

I took it apart and found that the sear spring #30 was damaged.

It wasn't applying any pressure to the sear, the only thing keeping it from going off was gravity! I was able to turn the spring over and bend its arm a little so it would contact the sear.  Trigger pull feels safe now and it's a blast to shoot.

Check your CZ's for this dangerous condition!!

Check out the disassembly at  myweb.cableone.net/leolani/cz-82-disassembly.html, it's very good.

Slimjlm,

My CZ 82 is doing the  exact same thing.  It looks like mine does not even have a sear spring.  I have not tried to take it a part yet, but I can`t see the spring at all.  Was it difficult to break down to fix your?  I am going to contact cz usa and order a new sear and spring.

Bob, it wasn't too bad, but there were some small parts.  The sear spring is hidden deep under the sear and ejector, its very hard to see but you should be able to glimpse it through the top hole in the ejector block.  I found that when I read the disassembly / reassembly and followed it I had no problems.  gun parts corp should have the parts, but czusa probably does too.  Be sure to check for safe operation after assembly and have fun!
