Hi All,

My son just finished OCS (officer candidate school) today and is now a 2nd Lt. in the Ohio ANG.  He is now headed off for 2 years of training that will finish with him being qualified to fly an F16 fighter jet for the guard.  Been his dream for over 20 years, I bet he watched Top Gun 500 times while growing up.  Just wanted to share a little, old man living through the kid.

My son just came back from Afganistan.  He flew F-15Es and got to drop quite a few bombs.  I have the arming pin from one of them that was dropped on an IED factory on my birthday and a flag that he carried on 67 missions.  He is going to pull a tour as an Air Laison Officer, Flight Commander for the next 3 years.

Give my thanks to your son for his service to the USA.  The Flag and the arming pin are great gifts.  It is good that he is coming back and is getting a stateside billet and sounds like a promotion too.

Prior to getting picked to fly, my kid made 2 tours to Iraqi as a Crew Chief.  I have a photo of a bomb with my name on it that he loaded onto an F16.  The bomb was then delivered to to some bad guys just outside of Bagdad.   The photo means alot.
