Went fishing at a friends pond two days ago. 10 fish total weight 32 lbs. big fish was 4 lbs 8 oz.
I'm glad spring is here.

It's clearly NOT spring here yet but the last couple days sure have been spring like. It was 62 yesterday and 69 today. We went for a hike this afternoon and walked all around the pond checking for activity. The bream and bass were moving in the shallows but the only catfish I saw were a couple that didn't survive the winter. One was dead and showed no signs yet of being fed on. The other was missing the back half. Both looked to be in the 2-3 pound size range tho I sure didn't put them on the scales.

The water level at the pond is really high right now it's out of normal banks the water is so high and the low areas in the neighbor's pasture that feed the pond are standing deep in water. Many of the smaller bass and bream have exited the pond and are in those shallow feeder areas on the neighbor's property.

My pond is badly over stocked as we've just not taken out nearly enough fish the past couple years. We really need to do a better job this year of catching and eating them.

That was the situation at my friends pond. He stocked 1000 catfish fingerlings 5 years ago. Now no one fishes it enough. So all the fish we caught were on the skinny side. He told me to come back. I will.

It sure isn't spring here in NKY. Around 11" of snow last week. It sucks! Went to SC for a few days to Santee and the fishing was horrible there too. Cold weather led to a MASSIVE shad kill, resulting in no fish willing to hit any kind of bait. High winds led to rough waters as well. At least I got to feel some 55 degree temps, it almost felt like summer compared to what we've had up here.

It is very springlike in New England....well today if you stayed outta the wind, the temps peaked at 37 or 38 degrees!!!

Here in texas it cant decide what it wants to do. Sunday I was outside in a T-shirt today we got 4 inches of snow.

You catchm and we will come help you eat them.
I looked at my Missouri river catfishing boat today and come back inside the house, still a little early. Got up to 26 here today.
May have to wait a couple of more weeks.
