Since my last post on this thread I decided to load the 110s down to see if that would result in a little less meat mangling. I tried Lyman's accuracy load with 3031 at just over 2900 fps and a load of 4198 also just over 2900. Neither shoots very good. I guess my next try will be with 4831 and if that won't do it then I will give up on the 110s for this use. I shouldn't have been surprised, this has been my experience with the 270 in over 50 years and three different rifles, they prefer to be loaded up to full steam. As I said before, if what you want to do is explode prairie dogs then the 110 gr Hornaday will do the job in spades, also in my rifle my hot 110 gr load shoots into the very same group as 130s. This is a common thing with 270 rifles.
