We are going to be in a world of hurt for the next few years I fear. We don't have a large sector of the economy to boost us out of this recession. States are going to start to fold and let lots of people go as we head into the spring and summer. Understanding that the .gov hasn't used all of the stimulus (held back to get the votes this November) is another boost to the economy, but private enterprise has to spur any real growth. Watch for Obama and company to toss a ton of money into public works and state govt this summer to get votes.

There are some that prolly wont discuss acknowledge that here, especially now that they are obama's wars!

20%? Some of it is - the significant other is in the work force earning the money so hubby doesn't have to work. In my family there are two guys that fall into that age group that do not work and do not plan on working. Makes me ill. Part of it is the economy and Government hand outs are not going to fix it. Stimulus money only puts some people back to work for a short time, then every thing goes back to the way it was. We need real job creation from the private sector. Cut taxes and give incentives for job creation - not hand outs.

Well - the Democrats have been real good at getting us into war in the past, why stop now?

Only 20% not working? That's not bad.

I see more like 50% goofing off when I walk the floor at the factory I babysit...

Methinks that the unemployment rate for 18-54 years old males is about 12 percent when the economy is good.  Many in this age group have never held a job-ever.

not to argue semantics but don't that damn near cover all men from adulthood to near retirement.... and you call it a age group???

So what you are saying is that most men don't work and never have... well ok then....
