Contender .444 Scope Ring Height
« on: March 01, 2010, 01:55:04 PM »
I finally found a used Contender .444 Marlin barrel.  I have been looking for quite a while to see what prices they were going at and it ended up cheaper to buy this SSK Armour Alloy II Super 14 than to convert my blued .44 Super 14 barrel.  This SSK barrel has been modified to work in all Contender/G2s (many of the Armour Alloy models won't due to tolerances).  It has a full-length T'SOB scope mount and I have an old Leupold M8 4X scope I plan to mount on it.  I would really like to get a Simmons 2-7X to put on it, but I already have the Leupold on hand, so that will be going on for now.  Does anyone know what height rings I will need for my scope?  I am away traveling and won't get home until a couple of days before I leave for a big hog hunting trip to South Texas, so I have to order some rings now so they are there when I get home next month.  Thanks.

The M8 4X will mount up very easily, as would the 2-7X Simmons with no more than medium height rings and still give good hammer clearance.....BUT......you have that good looking full length rib..........I don't know....unfortunately I don't have any full length T'SOB's.  Mine are the standard(short)version.  I'd bet if I'd get out of the way....Larry can tell you. ;D

BTW That's a good looking barrel.
