Here's one for ya
« on: November 29, 2010, 09:31:43 AM »
This Rifle i think is a 98 mauser, i do know it's an 8MM. The gun was my father in laws before he passed and he gave it to my son. It was sporterized in the 50's or 60's  by his uncle supposenly the wood was hand carvedi have no idea what kind of wood it is. The story is that everyone that has ever hunted with this rifle has killed a deer the first time that anyone hunts with it, i know i did and my son did since he was the last kid in the family that hunted at that time he gave him the rifle. I said in another thread i had 2 guns to kill a deer with 91/30 and sks well i klled one yeasterday with my 91/30.

After doing some more checking i found out that the man that did the wood on this gun worked for the Rail road and any time that something came through here with wood from another country on it he would get some. So there is no telling what country this wood came from.

Very nice.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

from what i see it is just a cut down military stock, I must say it is far from the hack jobs you normally see. The caliber will be marked right in front of the receiver ring, just forward of the crest

The stock is definitely a K-98 military stock, cut down.

The nose cap, and rear spacer, are a different wood.

Nice to know that guys working for the railroad are pilfering pieces of exotic wood being shipped on the trains.

Like them Mausers, unfortunantly my eyes don't like the sights anymore  ;). 8mm is a great cartridge!
