Have been wraping onion paper with not to much trouble using water but have tried some other paper and "regular" paper seems to adhere to itself much easier tails though rip off very easy...have found some vellum tracing paper 100% rag that is .0025 versus the onion paper I have been using which is .002 it to does not seem to adhere to itself so easy....does the egg white or flour help lots

Does some paper seem to work better then others in certain areas such as smokeless vs black powder slow velocity vs high??

How long do you leave loaded rounds???

Using lee alox at present.....how much does temp effect the lube and loads getting colder everytime I go out now...any lubes less efected by cold??

With regards to the lube (and I assume you're talking about the grease cookie) - the temperature does have an effect on it.

A simple home-made lube I use consists of 50/50 beeswax and cooking oil. In cold weather (below about 30 or 40 degrees) I will soften this a bit to about 40% beeswax, and 60% oil.

I use a 1/10" wad of this as a grease cookie below the bullet. To prevent the grease cookie from sticking to the base of the bullet, I place a waxpaper wad between it and the base of the bullet.

I have lightly coated my PP bullets with lee liquid alox (tumble) more to give them a moisture seal. I understand that in the hayday of PP they would coat them with wax for moisture which I am sure gave them some lube if any is at all nessessary which I doubt. As for paper and moistening mixtures. It is my understanding that the goal is to have the entire patch peel away a few feet down range or stay on for the entire ride. The rifling in your barrel has much to do with weather it cuts the paper or not. This portion is barrel determined. gummed labels or freezer tape can be tried to see what a full trip patch will do. I have dipped finished bullets in molten beeswax but the patch tends to stick to the bullet. Most opinions are that all of the patch must leave the bullet soon after it exits the barrel. Instead, I now rub a little powdered graphite on the dry patch. It helps lube it and might even help shed moisture some. The only drawback is that the patches are now black. I have also tried spraying the fnished bullet with Teflon before loading but results were mixed and I can't say that it helped or hurt.

I do the same - wipe with a little graphite from a buckskin chamois, just enough to blacken the leading edge of the patch. It helps the patch enter the rifling without damage, and you can still see that it's paper-patched
