45 70 - first shot!

Shot a 45 70 for the first time today,  :D :D :D :D :D

Using iron sights, haven't decided on optics yet.

Kid said good group at 50 yds, I didn't care, i was too busy smiling.

Kid shot it once and gave it right back. ;D

Can't wait for my dies to get here, this is going to be fun.

There are a lot of Handies out there, but the 45 70 is the Handiest,funest, best of the best. Love reloading for it and love to shoot it.
You gonna like it too. Have one with open sights and one with a scope.
 Which stand I hunt, determins which Handi I take to the woods.

i have two of them too!! They are accurate and I reload for them which just adds to the fun and excitement!!

I put a red dot sight on mine, a cheap one, but man is that perfect for the 45-70 handi! I was looking for a very "handi" setup for hunting timber in the rockies for elk and mule deer. Very fast handling and that red dot works like a charm. Faster sight acquisition than open sights. I reccomend it for anyone, I can hit the gongs with it to 200 yards. EJ

Second 45 70 is here, both 22" handis.  New one is virgin, never shot.  Guess I will break a bottle of champagne over the muzzle before I shoot it.  Dies are in hand, now if Mr. Dillon will just get me my shell plate I am ready to load!

Hello, you are going to like the 45-70 for sure,have 10 or so single shots and 1 lever,great fun to shoot.Had a bolt rifle ,but like a dummy I sold it.  :( :'(
