.357 Handi-Rifle Trapper TALO Special Edition HRSB1-35T
« on: March 05, 2010, 02:13:59 PM »
I saw one of these .357 Trappers for sale at Davidson's and was wondering if anyone here had one or is familiar with them. They don't show a picture and the description is somewhat vague. It does list it as having an 18" barrel and it also says that it has a ramp rear sight. I ordered the last one they had, but they still show several of the 45/70 Trapper Talo spec. edition rifles.

remember the poll about special order handi's we had a month or two ago? These things never showed up in any catalog I ever saw, is there some way a person could get notified when these things come out of the factory?? I would give a body part for an 18" 327 mag with the new synthetic thumbhole stock.

This is the first time I've seen one available, but I did see them listed at Davidson's Gallery of Guns and got on their notification list. They Emailed me when it came in. Here's a link to the listing. Just click on the stockwatch link and enter your Email to get on the notification list. http://www.galleryofguns.com/Genie/Default.aspx?item=72370&510&mfg=Harrington+%26+Richardson&mdl=All&cat=2&type=Rifle&cal=All&fin=All&sit=All

The wood in that picture looks real nice for pallet wood. Do they make pale wood schnabel fore ends? That thing would be a perfect companion to my .357 3 screw Blackhawk.

That looks like a standard 22" barrel in the pic.

Probably just a stock photo for the website.

That was my opinion too, the only way we'll know what they look like is for someone to order one and post pics!!  ;D

Hopefully I'll have a picture up by next weekend. I'm still puzzled by Davidson's description which says it comes with a scope rail, but also lists sights.

I know, that seems to be a real conflict to the norm, probably means it's drill and tapped for the scope rail which is the norm, but if it has sights, that's great, maybe H&R or at least Talo is listening!!  ;D

Thanks Fred, I was at least hoping for the old style forend that so many like, but at least sights are available again.

Fred,
Thanks for the photo! I'm sort of surprised it doesn't come with a straight grip stock. Looks kinda nice at that length though nothing really special except for the barrel length and sights. I still have a nicely grained walnut straight grip stock from Gunstocks that has yet to find a home. ;)

I like the short barrels.  They have one in 45-70 also.

I was looking at both the 45/70 and the .357, but I didn't have a .357. I probably would have ordered both if I hadn't just bought a .22 mag. Sportster the day before. You know how it is, you spoil the kids so that they expect to eat everyday and I can only sneak so many rifles past she who must be obeyed.

Looks like a winner to me.  ;D

I want one so I don't have to cut down the .357max I have.

Plus, I really like having factory irons.

All of a sudden the .357 Trappers are coming out of the woodwork. The .44 on the other hand seems to be a lot harder to find. Davidson's still has a few of the 45/70 versions.
