More is better.
« on: January 08, 2012, 07:50:12 AM »
So taurus started this new .45/410 CRAZEEEEE with the judge.... it's not a brand new concept, they've been around for a bit, just craze as of the past few years.

Magnum researched hopped on pretty much right away, then S&W steps in lately with "the governor."  (yep, smith makin a taurus knock off)  Oh and if any of you have been on magnum research's website anytime lately, you would noticed they have dubbed their .45/410 "the hammer" because I guess they all need nicknames now.  (I call my 454 "my 454" catchy, huh?)

Anywho...  S&W steps in with the .460 mag...  The first to chamber is magnum research in their bfr... so now magnum research has the .460.... and the 45/410....  Taurus is next on the timeline with the raging judge .454/410....  and now smith has both the .460.... and the .45/410 in their line up....  anybody see where I'm going with this?

Somebody.  Anybody.  Please.  Governor XVR?  .460 Hammer Magnum? Raging Judge .460 Magnum?  I don't care who does it.  Please do it. Somebody.  And put a rail on top of it... ;)

You are right it is a craze that Taurus started.  I have had the oportunity to fire several Judges over the past couple years and have found them to be poor choice of weapon for anything but close in shooting of snakes for self defence.  None of the guns were what I would call accurate with ball ammo beyond close self defense ranges and the same was true with buckshot and bird shot loads.  The gun is OK for self defense but other than that is pretty useless.  In my opinion if they made a straight 45 colt or 45acp revolver it would be just as useful for self defense and more accurate at longer ranges for other purposes like taking small to medium game.  And by using shot loads it would be just as effective on snakes at short range as the various bulls out there.

There are two things which I find make the judge semi-worthwhile.

The first is the reason I would like one, which is some fun bustin hand thrown clays with a revolver.  Just sounds like a good time.

The second is home defense based on ammo.  Specifically the .410 shells loaded with three metal discs, make for thumping of target at close range.

I mean it's definitely a gimmick gun, that isn't a question.  But to some a gimmick can be pretty worthwhile.  (i.e. pez) hahahahaha
