On a gunsmithing or repair level Jerry Kuhnhausen put out a nice book. Midway sells it. Quite a bit of history in it too.

The absolute best book on Mausers is Mauser Bolt rifles by Ludwig Olsen. It can be had from Brownell's. It's expensive and worth every penny.

A pretty good book is Frank DeHass ' book "Bolt Action Rifles". It's in it's 3rd. or 4th. version. Good, common sense info, both background/history, and modifying them.

I don't have it, but have always heard that "Backbone of the Whermacht German K98K Rifle, 1934-45" by Richard Law is an excellent treatise on the k98.
