Pre packaged Cap & Ball loads

Ya know, as much as I like those gluletts: they look neat, should take the rifling and I guess in theory should be more accurate then the bore rider commercial target projectiles, at some point it may just become to much of an effort to make them work out of a rifle barrel.   :-\

Kinda like pre-packaging BP C&B Revolver charges complete with fancy labels huh Bill?   ;) ;D

Hey!  That's reloading!   :D

Are you using flash paper to make the CTG's?  I wondered if you make them out of Flash paper if you could just stuff the whole thing in.  The cylinder face would shave off the paper from the projectile and the cap would ignite the flash paper.
Well I guess next time I am at Fisherman's Warf I will have to get some flash paper at the magic shop.
I will see if I can make some for my 44.  I am thinking of using a 44 mag case taking the paper square and centering it over the case and using a pencil to poke it in the case add powder and then set the round ball on top and twist the paper with a little wax to act as the string.
I think greese will be needed to keep from having a chain fire.

Yup, there's a couple of threads I started on it over in the C&B Revolver forum.

I made the combustable paper, I wouldn't really call it flash paper, by soaking it in nitrate.  As you said, the completed cartridge is stuffed in the chamber, the seating of the ball shaves off the paper where you glue it to the ball and the whole thing burns up when it's fired.

I couldn't see any difference in ignition or accuracy between using cartridges and pouring the powder into the cylinder.

Well Richard, ain't you just the cat's meow.  I never knew you was such a fancy feller!  Here I am out shooting with my sooty pistol and having to measure all them charges, and you just are ahead of the game!  Nice job by the way.  I admire your dedication, but I'm just too lazy.  When I decide to go shoot, I just grab a handful of stuff and take off.  Sometimes I have what I need. ;D

Well Ben, these C&B revolvers got me all fired up, so to speak...  ;D  I enjoy 'speramentin with different aspects of just about everything I'm involved in... that used to cause me a lot of trouble with the wimmin-folk I was datin...  :-\

Anyway, I figger it's a matter of where I want to spend the time measurin; in the man cave watchin tv or at the range when I'd rather be shooting.  And the wx proof packs seem to be just the ticket to carry in a cap box on a gunbelt when wanderin around the woods.

Onc't I settle on a load I'll try loading from a flask though.   ;D

'course I could spend some of the time boxin up that stuff I'm gonna send you.   :-[

The C&B's are fun.  As I've gotten older however, when I get home from work, it pains me to have to walk to the toilet.  I've gotten downright sorry!  I've called my Bud at the mill, and asked him to find me up a slice of either Kevlar or air bag cloth.

As soon as poss. I will mail it.
