Bullet seating problems?

I am new to muzzleloading, so excuse me for the lack of knowledge. I just purchased a new Encore 209X50. I am having trouble getting my bullets seated on the charge. I am using 777 Hodgedon Pellets and Knight PowerBelt bullets. After about three shots it becomes almost inpossible to get the bullet down on the charge. I swab the barrel but still am having trouble. After five shots I have to clean the barrel completely. Can anyone help? Thanks, Sonny

I had the same problem but only with sabotted rounds with my Remington 700 MLS until.......... I started spit wetting a patch between shots and runnung it down the bore. Turn the dirty patch over and back down the bore. Then a patch pre-saturated with bore butter once down the bore. All sabotted bullets now go smoothly down the bore no matter how many times I fire the gun. I never had a problem with pre-lubbed Hornady or Thompson pure lead bullets. (yes I use 777 Powder) Good Luck with yours - J.Solo

Thanks for the replys fellas. I think that I am getting the bullets all the way down, but it's darn hard to get them down there. Thanks for the info.....Sonny

P.S. Gonna try Pyrodex pellets this weekend.

I had the same problem with my encore 209x50. I called T/C and was told to use Number 13 Black Powder Solvent from T/C to swab between shots and the crud ring will be gone. I did and it worked. T/C also developed a new style breech plug with a deep dish type face to eliminate the problem or at least tame it down. If you send your plug to T/C, they will replace it with the new style for free with a one day turn around. Mine will be here tomorrow. I'll let you know how it shoots and loads with the new plug. By the way, I usually spit patch between shots anyway, so swabbing isnt that much more hassle. After all, if you keep your stuff in order and ready when hunting, it would only add a few seconds. WalMart sells the #13 cleaner. Pete
