I just finished the renegade winter project

I just finished the winter project on the renegade 54 cal with the custom barrel from t/c 1 in 66 round ball barrel twist
I have to go with fiber optic only because the eyes are not what they used to be.I just may take some rubbing coupound to cut the finish a little .I used about 20 coats of Formby's tung oil LOW GLOSS

SWEET! Ya dun that stock proud!

Shoot it yet? Don't git disgruntled till that new barrel git's broke in,,I like to shoot a new barrel for break in,,took about 200 rounds for my GM ta settle down,,but now it's a tack driver,,I wish ya luck workin up a load.

Another thing you could do is get a replacement trigger from Track Of The Wolf.  They have Davis triggers that take about five minutes to switch.  You can sell the old one on Ebay for $20 or so.  You will notice a big difference.  I have a set up much like yours only I have a Green Mountain Long Range Hunter barrel ($95 on closeout).  It shoots 300 grain Hornady XTPs like you would not believe.  Good luck.  nice rifle.

I hope she will tack drive RB being a 1 in 66 twist deep groove barrel as soon as the weather breaks I will see and report back.

I'd get the trigger set from Davis himself.  Saves you a couple of bucks and makes him a couple which Track would get.

Nice job on the Renegade.

Depends what you're going for I guess, but I like pure tung oil better than a linseed blend like TruOil because it doesn't darken with age as much as the later does and it has better water proofing properties.

Nice work and I hope you long and happy times with her in the woods. 

I was lucky to get my hands on a TC Big Boar in 58 cal.  It was new, without the box, and unfired.  It shoots a PRB the best so far.  These shots on the three targets were at 100 yds:
 



It has a 1 in 48" twist, but I can't find a conical it likes just yet.  The PRB target has five shot group in the upper left corner.  The next target was one shot on the PRB target and one on the Maxihunter target.  Really bad grouping on the Maxiballs.  The Maxihunter didn't do much better!!!  But that is really all the fun of trying.

I did get to the range the other day
The first 2 shot low right 70 grains of 3F
The next 2 shots a little high 80 grains and a wad under the patched r/b
The last 3 or 4 in the same group 90 grains with no wad
The gun was shot of shooting sticks at the 50 yd. mark
first 2 shots low then next 2 high using a wad.The last 3or 4 in the cluster with 90 grains of 3F

It looked good to me.  Looks like you got a shooter on your hands and what makes it special is you had a hand in its making.  Good on you and good shooting!
