Prior to last year I was using the 250 gr TC shockwaves with the easy glide (yellow) sabots over 85 gr of loose 777 in my NEF Sidekick.  I consider my ML to have a "tight bore" and this combo proved to be a very accurate load.  I harvested a couple deer with the shockwaves but wasn't satisfied with their "on game" performance and went in search of another option.

I've always been impressed with the Barnes bullets out of my slug gun and figured I'd give their muzzleloader bullets a try.  Started with the Spitfire MZ and TMZ's but both were next to impossible to load.  The 250 gr. TEZ on the other hand loaded just right, very comparable to the shockwave easy glides.

After experimenting with varying amounts of powder, I found its sweet spot shooting a 3-shot group at 75 yards measuring 1/2" center-to-center.  More importantly, I harvested a deer during ML season that left behind the blood trail that seemed to be lacking in my prior experiences with the shockwaves.

If your ML has a tight bore the TEZ's should load smoothly, yet firmly.  Being the TEZ's are a flat-based bullet vs. the boat-tail design of the Spitfire MZ and TMZ, you can buy aftermarket sabots (Crush Rib or MMP) if the TEZ's load too easily where accuracy suffers.

Time and $$ permitting, I plan on trying the 290 gr. TEZ's next year to see if they shoot as accurately as the 250 grainers.  IMO... it's hard to beat the terminal performance of a Barnes bullet.

MI.sabot, What kind of and how much powder are you using with the Barnes to get to your sweet spot?

100 gr. of loose 777.

As said in many other threads, you really need to play around a little to see what your ML likes.

The Barnes shot "ok" with 85 gr., the same load I was using with the shockwaves.
But I really wanted to see what kind of pattern I could hold by bumping up the powder.

At 90 grains, the pattern opened more and I was resigning myself to the fact that 85 gr and shockwaves would produce the greatest overall accuracy.
Disappointed and a little pi$$ed off, I dumped in 100 grains and WHALLA! then WHALLA again! and WHALLA one last time just to be sure! An opportunity to take a couple shots at 90 yds. a few weeks later confirmed the 3 shot group wasn't a fluke.

Besides trying the 290 gr TEZ's, I'll continue to test the the 250's a little further to see at what point the pattern starts to deteriorate.  Would like to try some BH209 but so far no one locally seems to be carrying it.

Good luck!

250 gr TEZ in my tight barreled triump with 100-110 gr 777 loose drive
tacks.the sabot supplied with the TEZ bullets does well in most T/C inline muzzleloaders.

My avatar should tell ya what I think of Barnes Bullets.

My limited experience with the TEZ's = 1 shot, 1 deer, excellent blood trail.
Pretty much the same experience with every deer I've taken using a Barnes Bullet out of my H&R slug gun.
Accurate and just plain nasty on game.
