LOOKING FOR A NEW .223-- Ordered the EDGE in camo
« on: June 09, 2010, 04:18:51 PM »
I am in the market for a new .223 rifle and Savage is the brand I want. I thought about the Stevens 200 and the new Savage Edge which are both getting great reviews but I am on the fence about stepping up a bit. My local dealer will sell me a Savage 11fcns for $499 which seems to be a great deal as this gun has the accustock and accu trigger. I like the fact that the model 11 only weighs 6.5 lbs and has a 22" barrel and uses a clip. Does anyone here have this rifle and what do you think of it. The few reviews I found are pretty good. Is it worth the extra $ over the new Edge or 200? This will be my coyote rifle and I like  for it to be short and light, it will be replaceing my H&R(which was a tackdriver)that I sold to build my .357 Maxi. So noww I am ready for a new .223 with a bolt action. Anyone have any input
I also looked at the model 25 but it is too heavy, and the 12's have too long of a barrel to suit me plus they are a lot more money. I still need a scope too.

Well I ordered the camo Edge today from my local dealer. $295.00 plus tax. If it shoots as good as it looks and as good as all the reviews then I will be pleased. The trrigger on the one he had in stock(.308) wasn't too bad and I could live with it. I'm sure some tweaking will be in order though. The bolt operated smoothly and the clip looks like it will be fine. Time will tell. I will also be putting a bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40 on it. I have Bushnells on almost all of my guns and have never had a problem with any of them. They are nice and bright and clear. The purpose of this gun was to have a budget priced coyote gun to replace my H&R and that I don't have to worry about getting dirty or scratched. So for right at $500 I will have it. Now the wait begins!!
