Replacement model 7 stock?
« on: March 03, 2010, 10:50:31 AM »
I bought a used model 7 and noticed the inside of the forearm (synthetic stock) had been sanded down, assuming the previous owner was trying to remove any uneven pressure on the barrel. Since the forearm is so thin it sometimes still hits the barrel. I considered buying a new stock for this rifle, if possible having a new one bedded or buying one with full length bedding. My question is who makes/sells stocks for a model 7?

We make an ultralight laminated stock for the model seven. It weighs on average 24 0z. I currently have three in stock one in grey, one in brown, and one in camo.

Are the Model 7 stocks you have for the newer style Model 7s with the four scope mount holes or the older Model 7s with the three hole scope mounts?

Thanks for the quick responses guys.

To be honest I'm not 100% if its 3 or 4 holes. It's a 260 rem so it can only be a little over 10 yrs old at the oldest. I want to say I remember 4 scope mount holes. It's got a 1 piece Leupold mount.

Thanks GB for adding the link, I did forget.

As far as the scope mounting holes go, I am not aware of this change. Can you give me more information. I doubt that this changes anything for my inlet but it is I suppose possible and I would like to know more.

Thanks,
Chad

The change should not matter. I just took measurements on an original and the latest with four holes and can find no differences in dimensions just to holes rather than one at the rear. I didn't pull them from the stocks but no dimension I can take from the outside has changed so I'm pretty sure it hasn't underneath either.

Thanks for checking. I'm sure the extra hole came about so that a two piece mount can be used. I doubt very much that Remington would have actually changed the dimensions of the action. I wouldn't put it passed Savage for a second but Remington is pretty good about keeping what already works.

Varmentnut260 - I may be interested in that Model 7 synthetic stock, providing that I can make it fit my CDL with the magnum barrel.
I'm guessing that I would have to relieve the forearm area to accept the larger contour. Let me know if you are
                        interested in selling.
