Martin Jaguar Recurve
« on: April 03, 2010, 07:29:31 AM »
A quick intro for myself on this portion of GBO. I have been shooting compounds now for around seven years pretty much on a daily basis. I shot traditional back in high school but that was with the schools equipment, not the greatest but enough to get me hooked on archery. Slightly over ten years later I have become pretty good participating in bowhunting, 3 spot, indoor 3-d and just shooting in the yard (40 yard range set up). Even got my wife into it.

A couple of years back I wanted to get into a recureve nothing to fancy just beginer/economy setup. I choose the PSE Impala I think it was called. To be honest it never met my expectations. The limbs twisted and went south not sure why. I use a stringer, kept it out of the elements and so forth.

Well yesterday I was looking some "entry level" recurves and test drove a few. I ended up with the Martin Jaguar recurve 50 pounder. I tried the 40 and 50 both shoot nice for me. I have around a dozen 2117 legacys I cut around 29". I think they should work decent with some 150's on the ends due to the fact 2117 are slightly heavy and stiff. Now to see if I have some feathers around I can flecth up and get to shooting it.
What did you do today...for Freedom?
Today, at the front, he died...Today, what did you do? Next time you see a list of dead and wounded, ask yourself: "What have I done for freedom? What can I do tomorrow that will save the lives of men like this and help them win the war?"

Enjoy shooting  the Martin.  Started out with a Martin Hunter had it for years, finally went with a custom recurve, ending up selling the Matin to get my son a bow he could use..

Sounds like a good choice 25-06! I have an older Martin re-curve bow and it is a great shooter! Its pulls near about 40# and I also have shot feather fletched 2117's in this bow, they were the old game getter arrows from easton. That I recall they were 29" and carried a 145gr. head very well. Now most times shooting I use wood arrows I get custom made for my bows. If I'm not mistaking that Martin Jaguar has metal riser, if thats so with good arrow rest it should shoot your 2117's really well....Bon Tier! scout4<><
