My long deceased uncle once owned a percussion .22 muzzleloader.  The barrel was small diameter and round - not flatsided.  The ramrod was steel.  He had a mold that dropped a conical bullet with grease grooves.  I think all of his loading stuff was Lyman so the mold may have been also.  He acquired this in the late 1920's but it got away after his death so I don't know manufacture.

I knew a feller down in the hills of kentucky that made a 22 ML. It was a beatiful little thing but fouling was a real headache due to the small bore dia. He did not shoot it much due to the fouling problem. His choice for the small bore was the 32. This man also is long gone and so are his guns....

There's a few around here (Southern Indiana) that like using 30 cal's on tree rats.  One fellow has a 28 cal.  They say you have to be real careful with ramrods.
