glock trigger connector
« on: March 31, 2010, 03:22:03 AM »
I just completely disassembled my glock 17 and cleaned it. After reassembling and dry firing a few times I removed the slide and noticed the trigger bar was past the connector between the connector and the frame. I didn't think this was right I thought the bar should just drop down not go past the connector. Thinking I bent the connector when I disassembled and did not have enough outward tension, I replaced the connector with a factory glock 5lbs connector. After dry firing it is the same, is this normal and I just have never noticed this before or is there another problem like a bent trigger bar.          THANKS CLEM

Looking at my G-19, the trigger bar is in it's rearmost position and down with the rear end of the trigger bar below the angled tab on the connector. It is between the frame and connector.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'past the connector', but if it's dry firing OK, it should be fine. I think it would take quite a bit of force to bent the connector.

When my trigger bar is in the most rearward position the trigger bar is between that angled piece on the connector and the frame. I will get my wife to take a picture and post it tonight.
Thanks for the help  Clem

That does look different than mine. My trigger bar is under the angled tab, not alongside it. The connector is closer to the side of the frame.
But I don't see why yours would be that way with both connectors.

Are you sure the trigger return spring is in properly?

Try dry firing (empty gun, no magazine) it and hold the trigger back, then rack the slide while holding the trigger back to simulate the firing cycle. Release the trigger slowly, you should feel a positive reset and hear the click.

Maybe you can find some help here:http://www.glockfaq.com/

that is where it sits until reset. some may differ a little, but all will be close. while you have slide removed, reset the trigger and you'll see it return to set position. MAKE SURE YOU RELEASE BEFORE REINSTALLING SLIDE. if not, you'll need to pull back plate off and remove striker to take slide back off. .02

Thanks for the info I am sure it probably has always bean that way I just never noticed it before. Yes it dose drop down into position when you reset it with the slide off. I have also run a couple hundred rounds through it and functions fine.  Thanks again Clem
