Near as I can tell on my Rossi single in .223 I HAVE a shooter in that one. I have not scoped it and stretched its legs yet but the iron site rounds have seemed to hold tight enough.....as much as you can expect so far
I will drop a "relatively cheap"' scope on it and see how it does in the next month or two.
If I were picking up a Rossi to LONG range varmint hunt with....just my opinion......I'd maybe pass on Rossi or start with one that doesn't seem to get the many responses of not holding a grouping. For some reason I feel the .243 has more "bad reviews" than other calibers have gotten. Don't know why.....maybe just one or two posters who are on many boards?
When/if I get into long range Varminting I can't help but imagine myself having a Mauser built with a .223 or similar. I also happen to wonder why I would steer away from .223 as it is widely available without issue. A heavier bullet WOULD be great to have in the cabinet though!!
Just stick to Military stuff, hoard ammo and shoot 19 times instead of once......it IS quite a bit of fun!
