210 gr cast bullet loads
« on: March 22, 2010, 02:44:42 AM »
I just bought some 210 gr cast bullets for my 41 magnum Redhawk, I have a Lyman load book but it does not have any info for that weight It has the 215 grain info. Where can I find loads for this weight bullet in the 41. I am shooting paper right now but would like some hunting loads also, With the JHP i was shooting I was using 2400 anf H110. I really like both powders, but if I need to change I can. Thanks for any help as this is the first time I have shot cast bullets and need all the help I can get.

Use the 215gr info 5grs is nothing many cast bullets will vari 1-5 grs.

Remember it's where the first bullet goes out of a cold barrel that counts most.

I cast my own 210gr bullets 2 diff styles depending on a batch of wheel weights they swing up and down 2-3 grs I really like Unique powder 8grs will get me a nice shooting load running 950 fps.

I agree with huntducks on everything except bullet weight.  If my bullet weights were 2-3 grain different, I would be sorting bullets by weight so I have less variability.  Otherwise, all good info.......

IME, 7.0-8.0 grains of Unique or 5.0 grains of Trail Boss. Both group really well in my .41's. I use 2400 for heavier loads.

I load 9.2 grains of accurate #2--it is a max load--I worked up to it slowly. It seems accurate in my Blackhawk--and you know you fired something when you touch one off.

I buy my bullets from MIssouri Bullet Company--they have bullets for the magnums that run 18 brinel---(hardness) pretty good for the magnum velocity. I didn't know that there was much of a differnce between say .38/.357 bullets until I went to their internet site--they call for 158 gr bullets for .38 to be 12 brinel--and .357 bullets to be 18 brinel. I never had any  other bullet maker give those numbers before. So now I only buy the 18 brinel stuff.
