Burris mounts
« on: December 27, 2003, 06:42:02 AM »
Does anybody have a source for the Burris "no gunsmithing" mounts that fit on the rib for Supermags? I've looked at the B-Square mounts but they appear flimsy.

Scope Mounts
« Reply #1 on: December 27, 2003, 07:01:51 AM »
I have a B-square scope mount on my 6" DW 44 mag. It clamps on well, however, the only complaint I have about the B-square is it seems to sit high on my revolver.  It makes me feel like I have a leg weight on my barrel.  I used it primarity for sighting in handloads for group tests and I used open sights for pistol hunting (easy handling and packing).  B-square is a good mount, just big than I would like.  The burris mounts you can find on e-bay and on gunbroker.com.  Keep an eye out for them, they come and go.

Hope this helps,

The B-Square mount I had in my hands did not seem to fit the gap in the vent rib. The legs were too thick. I saw a Burris mount on a Supermag that was for sale, but the guy would not part with just the mount. This Burris mount was quite a bit lower than the B-square mount and was mode of steel. Looked very nice.

Chazgin

I had to file down the legs that goes under the barrel vent rib a little bit with a fine file.  I don't know if this is normal or not.  Let me know if you get a burris mount and tell me how it works.  I might get one also.

Thx,

Got a Burris mount

Firemarshall, I found a dealer here locally that had a Burris mount. Found the dealer by Emailing Burris. They replied with a local dealer that still had some mounts (they are discontinued from Burris). The mount is much better quality than Bsquare and all steel. I put it on my 357 Supermag (fit the 445 also) and it is very solid. Sits low and for my 2X Burris scope I can use low rings. I can send you a picture if you want. Email me at chazgin@direcway.com

Here is a picture of the Burris mount with part numbers if that will help anyone, sorry I had just sold it on ebay. I personally did not like the fit on my DW 445, I purchased a ten inch barrel with the drilled and taped scope mount directly from DW.
