8mm IHMSA
« on: July 21, 2011, 05:29:22 AM »
I am looking for load data for the 8 IHMSA.  One book I have says it used 308 brass necked up and trimmed.  Another source says it is a 300 Savage necked up with a 38* shoulder.
I would like to know the parent case, load data with heavy (200gr +) bullets and where to find dies.
If anybody has a used set of dies that they want to part with - that would be great!!

.300 Savage brass is the easiest to use, but .308 Win. brass can also be used 7 trimmed a bit. The IHMSA published a loading book about 30 years ago. The Gun Digest Book of Metallic Silhouette Shooting, Ed. 1 may also have some loads.

Contact Wichita, they developed the IHMSA line of chamberings using the 220 Russian.  See their website below.

I found imformation on the 8 mm international. I'm thinking its the same but there were alot of wildcats back then. The 8 mm int as were the other IMHSA rounds were by Elgin Gates and built by him and other gunsmiths back in 75 -80's before any company picked them up.
