ramline stocks
« on: November 12, 2003, 07:21:19 AM »
Ramline stocks are advertized as synethic, but are they more of a plastic or more of a fiberglass type stock.  If they are plastic-like, are they a stiff plastic like the Remington factory stocks, or are they flimsly and "soft" like the Savage factory stock?
Thanks

Ramline stocks are a polypropelene material, comparable to a butter tub.  They are reenforced to retain shape and are pretty durable.  I used to do the stock work for a shop and they kept a barrel of broken plastic stocks in the office.  It mostly contained the Remingtons.  Somewhat do to the prevalence of remington rifles in the area but still, I really don't like the Remington stock...  Synthetics are great but they will break, and it doesn't require a catastrophy such as falling from a horse to do it..
