xphunter and sdhandgunner suggested H4895 with 120 and 140gr nosler bt's. well, i tried the 120gr nosler with 40.0gr of h4895 and it shoots great in my 15" encore. that is a light load but was very accurate. i'll bump up the charge and experiment more when i get time. :D

Since I asked this in April I thought some of you might have some opinions now that we are near or in Deer season.

Any information would be appreciated.

i'll just add that i did bump the charge up to 41.5gr h4895 with a 120gr nosler bt, got better accuracy and 2800fps out of my 15" stainless encore barrel. 8)

I bought some H4895 tonight and I will try it with the 120gr. Hornady SSSP bullets I have.

I thought I would start at 40 and go to 41.5 in .5 increments.and see what happens.

My range is 85 miles from my loading bench so it will be easier to load ahead of time.

Thanks for your help Kyode.

Well I shot the XP with the 41gr of 4895 load and it shot well.  I got just under 2700 fps and just over an inch 100 yard group.

I will use this load for the opening of the regular Wisconsin deer season.  Thanks for your help.

no problem, hope it serves you well, and sounds like it may. you could tweak around with it a little more after season if you wanted. you may find that little changes in seating depth, or powder charge will get those groups even smaller. if not, just over an inch is great for a handgun in my opinion. :D
