It can be a tad exciting, I did it for a few years, got bored with hunting with firearms, and bows, had a knife built for me in South America, but itis just because I like the maker and his blade design.
A true Bowie would be a waste of time, they are fighting knifes, those styled close but with a heavier blade, and I prefer a slight up sweep do better
IMO a longer blade is better, 6" is just on the bitter edge of no good, mine is 13".
The guys I used to hunt with used Dogo's and pit/boxer mixes for catch dogs. All wore collars and chest plates, chasing them through the swamps and keeping up with the dogs is a blast, first couple of times I had to ask myself ,if I had lost my mind, never took one over about 200 on the hoof most where in the 100-125 area.Hope the dog holds on good slip up grab the hind legs flip'em and step in and stab up and under the shoulder and plate into the heart lung area, never worried about the blood it washes off,and they make great BBQ
