12" T/C Custom Shop Barrel - 17 K - Hornet & 12" Fox River Custom 7 - 30 Waters

I bought a number of barrels today and included among some of the more "normal" barrels were:

-- 17 K - Hornet 12" marked as "T/C Custom Shop...with matte finish and beautiful walnut for end.

-- 7 -30 Waters 12" marked as a "Fox River Custom" with odd shape...not round.

Any thoughts?

I don't know anything about the 17 K Hornet, but the 7x30 Waters barrel from Fox River should be a very nice barrel.  I've seen one before, seem to be top notch.

Thanks.  I've never had or held anything but the factory barrels that T/C supplied.  I was wondering that was special (if anything) about these two barrels.  They are just darn near minty fresh...

Nothing special other than not factory production barrels and the 17 Hornet is a wildcat.   The barrels were made on the same equipment by the same people out of the same quality of blanks as their production barrels are.   Even so they will both be good shooters and the 17 about as much fun as you can have with your clothes on.   

Pay attention when you b uy dies as there are two different K Hornets (17Kilbourne and 17KE Kimber/Ken Howell) and either may be much harder to find form and load dies for than the more popular 17 Ackley Hornet.   Shoulder angle is the main difference between them, but if I remember the K's are also a little longer to the shoulder than the Ackley.
